KINCurrent Productions LLC

Stories of Memory,
Movement, and Social Change.

Illustrated collage connecting Caribbean waters, archival papers, oral history recording and filmmaking.

KINCurrent Productions is the creative and professional home for the work of Christiana Best-Giacomini, Ph.D.

It brings together documentary filmmaking, podcasting, writing, oral history, research, education, public speaking, and community-engaged projects. Across these forms, the work is connected by a commitment to people, place, history, legacy, and the stories that travel between generations.

Through storytelling and scholarship, KINCurrent seeks to preserve memory, bring overlooked experiences into public conversation, and contribute to a deeper understanding of the social and historical issues that shape our lives.

The meaning behind the name

Kinship meets movement.

KIN

Kinship includes the families we are born into and the families and communities we create and choose. It speaks to ancestry, intergenerational connection, and collective responsibility.

The name is also rooted in my African and Caribbean heritage, and in the traditions of extended family, community, and belonging that have shaped my life and work.

Current

Current evokes the waves of the Caribbean Sea and the movement of people, stories, memories, and cultures across borders and generations.

It also connects to Rising from the Waves, the oral history project documenting survival, recovery, and resilience in Carriacou and Petite Martinique following Hurricane Beryl.

Together, KINCurrent honors where we come from, documents where we have been, engages the present, and helps shape what comes next.
